Portland Fire Select Carla Leite, Toronto Tempo Select María Conde From Golden State Valkyries In 2026 WNBA Expansion Draft
The Portland Fire have selected Golden State Valkyries guard Carla Leite, and the Toronto Tempo have selected Valkyries forward María Conde during the 2026 WNBA Expansion Draft which took place Friday, April 3.

Leite appeared in 37 regular-season games for Golden State this past season, averaging 7.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. The guard was one of seven rookies in the WNBA last year with 250+ points, 40+ rebounds and 70+ assists, and her 38.7% from the field ranked 13th among rookies. The ninth overall draft pick by the Dallas Wings in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Leite was selected by the Valkyries from Dallas in the 2024 WNBA Expansion Draft.
Conde, who missed this past WNBA season after sustaining an injury while playing for USK Praha in the EuroLeague, recently suited up for Spain at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournament where she averaged 9.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists in four games. Conde was selected by Golden State from the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Expansion Draft after being drafted 27th overall by the Sky in the 2019 WNBA Draft.
