The Valkyries have two regular-season home games remaining, hosting the Portland Fire on Sept. 18 and the Seattle Storm on the second night of the back-to-back on Sept. 19. Golden State has already clinched a playoff spot and is guaranteed to host their first playoff game at Chase Center this season, after playing their playoff home opener at SAP Center in 2025. With the second-best record in the league, they are well positioned to have home court advantage in the first round. The 2026 WNBA regular season ends on Sept. 24, and the playoffs begin on Sept. 27. 

LEITE SHOW HEATS UP WITH FIRE
After a strong rookie season in the Bay, the Portland Fire took Carla Leite in the 2026 Expansion Draft. Leite is the Fire’s leading scorer and more than doubled her scoring average from last season, going from 7.2 points per game to 15.6 points per contest. She has also more than tripled her assists per game from 2.0 to 6.3. Leite is one of four WNBA players this season leading her team in points and assists per game, joining Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark, Dallas Wings’ Paige Bueckers and Washington Mystics’ Sonia Citron. FLAU'JAE JOHNSON WRAPS UP PRODUCTIVE ROOKIE SEASON
Drafted by the Valkyries with the eighth pick of the 2026 WNBA Draft, Flau'jae Johnson is wrapping up her rookie season with the Seattle Storm. Johnson ranks second among 2026 rookies in total points scored and is the second rookie in Storm franchise history to eclipse 500 points. She also ranks second among 2026 rookies in rebounds, steals, and blocks, and ranks fifth in assists. VALKYRIES VYING FOR AWARDS 
As the 2026 regular season wraps up, the Valkyries have several people vying for awards. Gabby Williams made her first career All-Star start in her first season with the Valkyries and could qualify for an All-WNBA team. Williams is also among the contenders for the Defensive Player of the Year award and a spot on the All-Defensive Team. The Valkyries have the best defensive rating in the WNBA, and players such as Kiah Stokes and Veronica Burton have also contributed significantly on that end. Burton is first among qualifiers in defensive win shares (0.199), and Stokes is tied for third in the league in blocks per game (1.8 BPG). Janelle Salaün is the all-time leader in bench scoring in a season, which gives her a strong case for the Sixth Player of the Year award. Reigning Coach of the Year Natalie Nakase should again be in the conversation for the award this season, as she has led the Valkyries to the second-best record in the league, and they’ve already increased their win total from last season. 

GOLDEN STATE REPRESENTATION IN FIBA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP
The Valkyries will be well represented in the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup with four active players participating: Gabby Williams (France), Janelle Salaün (France), Cecilia Zandalasini (Italy) and Miela Sowah (Australia). The No. 38 pick by the Valkyries in the 2026 WNBA Draft, Kokoro Tanaka (Japan), will also play and Head Coach Natalie Nakase will be an assistant coach for Team USA.
