The Valkyries head to Connecticut to face the Sun on the front end of a road back-to-back on Wednesday. The Sun have the second-worst record in the WNBA, having won just 25 percent of their games (9-27 record). Seven of the eight WNBA playoff spots have already been secured, with the Dallas Wings 6.5 games ahead of the Portland Fire for the final spot. Wednesday will be the Valkyries’ final matchup against the Sun in Connecticut, as they are moving to Houston next season.

The Golden State Valkyries beat the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx 80-66 for their first-ever win against the franchise at Target Center on Monday. The Valkyries were previously 0-6 against the Lynx in the regular season and 0-3 in the postseason, but ended the skid emphatically, defeating Minnesota by the largest margin of any Lynx opponent this season (14) and holding them to a season-low in points (66). Former Lynx guard Cecilia Zandalasini led all scorers with 18 points and was joined by four teammates — Gabby Williams (15 PTS), Veronica Burton (14 PTS), Tiffany Hayes (14 PTS) and Janelle Salaün (12 PTS) — who scored in double figures. With the win, Golden State prevents Minnesota from clinching the first seed and moves within four games of them with seven games remaining. VALKYRIES: Janelle Salaün is 34 points behind Gabby Williams for the Valkyries’ team lead in total points scored. If Salaün passes Williams for the team lead by the end of the season, she would become the first WNBA reserve to lead a team in total points scored. She already is the highest-scoring reserve in WNBA history. 
SUN: The Sun are the lowest-scoring team in the WNBA, averaging just 79 points per game. The Sun will face a Valkyries team that just held the second-highest scoring team in the league, the Minnesota Lynx, to a season-low 66 points.
