The Golden State Warriors have named Kimberly Veale as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, for Golden State’s WNBA team, it was announced today. Veale, who has over 13 years of experience in professional sports, including seven years in the WNBA, will oversee all marketing, social media, merchandise, public relations, broadcast, and community relations efforts. She will report directly to WNBA Golden State President, Jess Smith, beginning on April 1.

“As a native of the San Francisco Bay Area with significant experience in both the WNBA and NBA, Kimberly adds trust, expertise and heart to what we're building at WNBA Golden State,” said Smith. “She has an innate understanding of the women’s sports landscape and the authenticity our fans demand and deserve. I can't wait to be a part of what she leads for us.”

Veale will transition to WNBA Golden State after six seasons with the Warriors, most recently as Vice President, Corporate Communications. In that capacity, she oversaw all aspects of the company’s business communications efforts for the Warriors, Chase Center, Thrive City, Golden State Entertainment and the organization’s esports brands. Additionally, she was responsible for the franchise’s internal and executive communications efforts.

"There has never been a more exciting time for women's basketball," said Veale. "It is an incredible honor to build a WNBA franchise in my hometown that will celebrate our athletes, proudly represent our region, and have significant impact on our community. With the investment and commitment of the Warriors, a proven championship organization, we have an opportunity to forever change the trajectory of the women's sports ecosystem."

Veale joined the Warriors in 2018 from the WNBA’s Seattle Storm, where she spent six seasons overseeing the team’s public relations and player relations departments. Her tenure with Seattle included hosting the 2017 WNBA All-Star Game and a 2018 WNBA Championship title run. Prior to the Storm, she spent time with the Chicago Sky (WNBA), San Jose Earthquakes (MLS) and Santa Cruz Warriors (NBA G League).

Veale serves as the executive sponsor for the company’s Pride Alliance employee resource group, and spent several seasons on the company’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. Outside of the Warriors, she is a Board Member for Girls Inc. of Alameda County. A native of the Bay Area, she earned a B.A. in Communications from DePaul University.

On October 5, 2023, the WNBA announced its first expansion team since 2008 by awarding Golden State a franchise that will begin play in the 2025 WNBA season. The team will be headquartered in Oakland and play home games at Chase Center in San Francisco. The team’s brand identity will be announced at a later date.
